One of the hardest games I have ever had to learn to play was Final Fantasy. I have played most of the sequels and spin offs. I learned to play the game on a Japanese Playstation console and obviously played it in Japanese format. I had a friend who translated important things, not to mention that I played it before it was ever released in the U.S. Of all the games (especially Role Playing Games) I have ever learned, it was the hardest.

Of course, it was also a pioneer in it's field. As most people would agree, it's not a game for the casual player, taking many days of play time to advance within the original console titles, it was by and far the highest content game (any of them) of the time. An entire world crammed into several CD's. And that was long before the online version of Final Fantasy XI!  When I finally had a good internet connection and was able to start playing online more than just here and there at a friends house, I tore into FFXI Online with the zeal only heretics and those who have been with the franchise since the beginning have known. Everyone knows a Final Fantasy fan. Some one among your friends can relate to you the perspective I am currently giving. While I have been away from the game for some time, I recently went to buy FFXI Gil online and got back into the fray, and I can say that it has not lost its appeal for me. I love my MMO's and I play more than a few, even two to three at a time sometimes. But there just is not another franchise or look-alike game anywhere that can compare with the one, the only, Final Fantasy.
