Being one of the few MMORPGs that are free I was expecting the PvE aspect of Rappelz to be a far greater experience than the PvP. As I continued to play upto level 30 I noticed I was right. Rapplez only offers its players one server for its PvP. This is due to the fact that PvP requires constant maintenance and balance fixes and this costs money. The game offers quite a bit of player interaction but this is more of a cooperative interaction rather than competitive. The races are not balanced to perfection. Rogues and paladin tend to be nbfar more powered than casters. Many MMORPGs offer players on PvE server to engage in battleground at their leisure unfortunately Rappelz has not borrowed this concept from other MMOs.

The PvP aspect comes in the form of skirmishes which tend to be more irksome than entertaining. The PvE side focuses on collecting loot and selling crafted items such as gems, armor and weapons for a certain amount of Rappelz Rupees (Rapplez currency). The end game aspect of Rappelz will generally end with players’ running back and forth between towns and dungeons in a loot crazed pattern for armor and Rappelz Rupees. One of the few charms Rapplez offers is its environment and exploration of it. The world has quite a bit of visual effort put into and looks quite decent. The monster A.I is quite challenging they will generally chase a player or even call for reinforcements. Rappelz Rupees are generally also needed for armor and other weapons especially on the PvP server.

Overall if you’re a competitive PvP player who gets thrills out of either taking down opposing factions in heated battle or a PvP armor/weapon plunderer Rapplez clearly does not have anything for you. Dedicated PvP players are far better off paying for a worthwhile PvP MMO such as Conan or WOW. On the other hand if you’re looking for something to kill some time while chatting away to players about items and dungeons you want to take on Rapplez which is a worthwhile time investment.
