Rappelz is certainly a game you can’t really have any expectation of, since the game is free to the online gaming community your technically at the mercy of the developers. It’s a relatively good looker with nothing exceptionally put in by its developers. The graphics and sound score seem to almost have been borrowed from the familiar MMO such as everquest 2 and guildwars. Then again it is free I couldn’t really blame the developers for not putting much effort into a game they would never make money off.

The initial start to the game allows players to select from 3 different races. The races in Rappelz include the deva, asura and gaia. These races are basically spinoffs from the normal humans and elves you see in most MMOs.  The class I selected a deva was pretty much a knight or paladin of some sort to begin with. I realized only later on as progress through the levels that you are allowed to specialize into a certain forte.

The game environment looks stunning and the quests are fairly clear and available throughout the regions. The game does excellent job in navigating you through its world. The character creation is quite limited having only a few special customizations to make your character look unique. The animations are not exquisite but bearable. The game however has its faults.

There is no definitive story live to the game it’s actually an anime cartoonish playground for the online community. The game is entirely dependent on its fan base to function. Players can level up and gather Rappelz gold similar to any other MMO by questing and killing monsters in the world. Players are also given Rappelz gold at the end of a quest Rappelz gold is a form of currency which is earned just like experience points. This currency is used to buy certain skills and armor in the game. The online community is quite good despite the small amount of servers available.
Overall the game is quite decent and it’s worth a try if you’re hard on cash and looking for some online fun. It is understandable that many will have reservations about the game but then again it’s not like it costs you anything.
