DAOC (Dark Age of Camelot) was released in 2001 at the beginning of MMORPGs. The game throws players into a war torn world after the death of King Arthur. Players are allowed to choose from 3 races. The races are given their own region which is similar to a world or plane. Players are forced to defend their regions from the opposing factions. The sheer content of DAOC is astounding, players are capable of immersing them selves in the solo and that will keep them entertained for hours on end. Even though DAOC was made over a decade ago the visuals aren’t too bad. Most of the environment appears pretty basic in relative comparison to guild wars and other games of 2008. The online community is quite firmly maintained due to the fact that players are strictly hostile to players from opposite realms.

The online community is highly populated having over ten thousand players over its 10 servers. The mythic support teams are quite responsive with the issues plaguing the servers generally tending to them over 24 hours. The questing is fairly simple and is a basic level grind. However the economy doesn’t seem too stringent unlike other MMORPGs. Low level characters are allowed complete simple tasks in return for gold and experience.
 
The characters have large amount abilities to choose from. Melee classes are able to go into several divisions upon specialization. The PvP aspect of the game is kept steer of anyone who doesn’t want to engage in competitive play. Most of the PvP action takes place on the border of the realms where players form guilds to battle for supremacy of the lands. Players are capable of building settlements to defend. The PvP combat is intense and is best suited for high level characters and veteran players.
